Outline (in English)

In this lecture, we will grasp the influence of globalization on people's lives from a wide range of themes. While focusing on the relationship between civil society organizations and governments and international organizations in modern society, we will explore the possibility of solving public issues through multi-center collaboration. Specifically, we approach various themes that civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations symbolized by NPOs and NGOs work on or raise issues at home and abroad, and civil society in each dimension such as local / national / transnational. We will examine the process of civic participation in which policy proposals by organizations are input to public policy formation, and the effects of cooperation and tension between the two on the government and civil society. Through these, we will flexibly consider measures to solve public issues.
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
-A. To understand the modern concepts of civil society and various themes related to problem solving by civil society organizations.
-B. To acquire the thinking ability to flexibly consider the solution of social issues regardless of the relationship between sectors and the government system.
-C. To develop the ability to find clues to solve social issues
