Outline (in English)

Today, people in developed countries, including Japan, are living under a variety of welfare policies. In this sense, the "welfare state" has become the basic framework that defines our lives. However, it also reflects a myriad of norms and values, and the way we live our lives is greatly influenced by how these norms and values are applied.

In this course, we will learn about the historical development of welfare policy and its theoretical and ideological basis, as well as examine the criticisms of contemporary welfare policy and the challenges it faces.
