Outline (in English)

●Course outline
This course focuses on structure and function of nature such as biodiversity and matter cycle in the Tama region, including the forest of Tama Campus. In the spring semester, the students will learn how to study living organisms in the field and laboratory.
●Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:
_explain the essential concepts of biology, ecology and environmental sciences
_discuss the role of human beings in natural environment
_apply theories or findings to address environmental and social issues.
●Learning activities outside of classroom
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend two hours to understand the course content.
●Grading Criteria /Policy
Grading will be decided based on mid-term exam (30%), research reports (50%), and in-class contribution (20%).
