Outline (in English)
【Course outline】This course introduces social issues through movies to students taking this course. The aim of this course is to help students acquire the necessary skills and knowledge needed to achieve a better performance in their university studies.
【Learning Objectives】The Goals of this course are next 3 points.
1. To be able to understand the contents of long sentences and summarize them concisely.
2. To be able to collect information on a given topic
3. To be able to collect information according to a given theme.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
The standard preparation and review time for this class is one hour.
【Grading Criteria /Policies】
The evaluation will be based on the following distribution of points. Review Quiz (30%), final Test (55%), relative evaluation (15%).

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
今日の世界で問題となっている様々な社会事象を映画を通じて検討していく。この授業では、社会の多様な視点を学ぶことによって、大学における学びの基礎を構築することを一つの目的とする。教科書に沿った学習を基本とするが、適宜、英文記事等の課題を課すことでリーディング力の向上を目指す。
到達目標Goal
・長文の内容を理解し、それを簡潔にまとめる（要約）ことができるようになる。
・現代社会が抱える問題について関心を持てるようになる。
・与えられたテーマにそって情報を収集することができるようになる。

教科書の内容に加えて、適宜英文記事の読解およびテーマに基づくディスカッションを実施する。尚、授業計画は授業の展開によって、若干の変更があり得る。学生からの質問はメールやHoppiiの掲示板を活用する。また、適宜、英文記事の講読もとり入れ、読解力の向上を目指す。
