Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
This course is intended to help students improve their basic English skills including vocabulary development, reading aloud, comprehension, and identifying main ideas in reading passages, listening and speaking.
The class will be held on-line in a bilingual environment both Japanese and English.
(Learning Objectives)
By taking this course, students should be able to improve the followings:
a. basic English skills including reading, writing, listening and speaking.
b. the structure and content of the English language.
c. the spelling of words, and their meanings, emphasizing the rules of composition, grammar and sentence construction.
d. the correct pronunciation of words.
(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments after each class meeting. Their study time will be more than four hours for a meeting.
(Grading Criteria)
The final grade will be decided by the students’ in-class participation (30%), the quality of assignments (30%), and the final report (40%).
