Outline (in English)

Course Outline: This course is a general introduction to linguistics, the study of human language. This class provides an introduction to linguistic subfields analyzing sound pronunciation systems (phonetics and phonology), word and sentence structure (morphology and syntax, or grammar), and systems of meaning (semantics and pragmatics).
Learning Objectives: At the end of the course, students are expected to understand linguistic data by using the methodology of modern linguistics.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Grading Criteria/Policy: Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following: Short reports (70%); Term-end report (30%). (You will not pass this course without submitting each report.)
