Outline (in English)

Economic analysis is used to evaluate the effects government activities have on the resource allocation and the social welfare. Three major roles of the government are resource allocation, income redistribution and stabilization.
Students will be expected to learn what the government should do for the society. They will be able to analyze how the government activities affect the decision making of people and whether they can improve the efficiency of the markets.
Students should spend four hours of study for each class. Students will be quite familiar with basic economic analysis of demand and supply curves and optimizing behaviors of firms and consumers.Keeping abreast of the current state of the public sector is another requirement.
The overall grade will be based on assignments (25%) and the final exam (75%).
