Outline (in English)

Course Outline: I will consider the origins of modern Japanese literature based on the appreciation of specific works. I will also consider what “learning literature” means.
Learning Objectives: The primary goal of this course is to deepen the students' understanding of “Modern Japanese Literature”, as well as of literary appreciation and of literary research.
Learning Activities Outside of the Classroom: Read the works covered in the lecture in advance.
Grading Criteria/Policy: Evaluation is made comprehensively based on the submission of short assignments in class (20%), an essay test (70%), and the degree of participation in the class (10%).
