Outline (in English)

River systems consist of various events such as discharge fluctuations during floods and droughts, sediment and mass transport through catchments and channels, changes in river morphology, ecological dynamics and services of fauna and flora etc. This course is designed to study these complex mechanisms involved in river systems and correctly understand how they should be regulated to allow harmony between ecosystems and human activities. In addition to lectures on fundamentals of ecodynamics, world-wide examples of river restoration projects are presented in order to help students learn desirable ways of creating sustainable river systems that are friendly to the ecosystem.
