Outline (in English)

(Course outline)
In this program, students acquire basic knowledge and analytical methods on structural and materials mechanics in order to understand the effects of external forces on structures and machine elements. In addition, students acquire knowledge about deformation and internal forces when a load acts on structures or machine elements.

(Learning Objectives)
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
1)Application of principles regarding equalibrium of forces and moments
2)Mechanical analysis for designing structures and machine elements
3)Assessment of the safety of structures and machine elements

(Learning activities outside of classroom)
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend two hours to understand the course content.

(Grading Criteria /Policy)
Grading will be decided based on short reports (30%), term end examination (50%), and in class contribution (20%).
