Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
For Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, and Advanced level students, the course is designed to enhance the ability to read critically, discuss ideas effectively, present ideas in writing and to develop students’ skill in making oral presentations. For Elementary level students, review the basics of Grammar being used in real life situations. Students are asked to memorize 300 or more sentences to develop communication skills that would help them cope with the demands of college work and everyday life, shifting from language learning to communication building.
The course incorporates TOEIC exercises and vocabulary building to aim for higher scores on the TOEIC test.
【Learning Objectives】
At the end of this course, elementary and intermediate level students are expected to obtain a TOEIC score of over 500, and advanced level students over 800.
【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Students will be expected to have completed the required assignments and submit them in time without fail, study for vocabulary quizzes and review lessons. You are required to study at least four hours for each class meeting.
【Grading Policies】
Grading will be decided based on class performance (in-class contribution, mini-quiz, and presentation) 60% and TOEIC IP/term-end examination (40%).
