Outline (in English)

Following the English for Academic Purposes 1 in the spring semester, this course is also designed to deepen students' knowledge on issues related to Well-being through English books and academic papers. Materials for the course include official reports by international organizations such as the OECD and WHO, sections and columns from Nolen-Hoeksema et al. (2014), journal papers in the field of psychology and clinical psychology, and students’ selected academic readings. Each student will be responsible for a certain part of the selected readings and summarize the target problems, backgrounds, theories, experimental designs, and outcomes or findings described in the reading. Through sharing the summary within a group, students will reinforce their understanding of academic topics in their specialized areas. As for reading their selected materials, students are welcome to bring English articles, the contents of which should be connected to other selected or required course materials they are learning or have learnt. The course is partially aimed at preparing for the graduate school entrance exam.
