Outline (in English)

The land is our stage of life, on which our human societies stand. It is true that the land does not seem to change, but the land has changed repeatedly and reached the present styles through various geomorphic processes such as river flood and crustal deformation in the recent geologic time. We examine the geomorphic environment in the Japanese islands, one of the tectonically active and intensely denuded regions in the world, in order to recognize how land conditions are related to our human societies.
