Outline (in English)

Themes of this lecture series are on (1) environment and energy policies in Japan and the world, and (2) approaches for overcoming the challenges for so-called 3Es (Energy Security Enhancement, Economic Efficiency, and Environmental Protection). Those themes will be analyzed from Japan’s past experiences/current undertakings as well as other countries’ approaches. Engagement of the international community to such a framework as UNFCCC is also an important theme to be analyzed in this lecture series.
The objectives of this lecture series are:
• to objectively understand the current energy and environmental issues with the use of statistical data as well as policies analyses,
• to understand the global environment and energy policies from both historical and current perspectives, and
• to establish views for overcoming those challenges surrounding global environment and energy issues from multilateral/ bilateral approaches as well as Japan’s approaches.
