Outline (in English)

The purpose of this class is to examine the contemporary significance of "anti-birth" with special reference to Benatar's "I was better off not being born." By the way, according to Benatar, it is important to reduce the harm of this world by preventing the birth of newborns, and therefore abortion is affirmed. Eventually, he comes to the conclusion that humanity should be extinct.
As one of the responses to the philosophy of anti-natalism, we will examine the philosophy of the "meaning of life. The purpose of this class is to examine philosophically the question of whether our "life" has "meaning". Simply put, it is to answer the question, "Does life have meaning?" or "Does life have no meaning?
In 2021, we will take up Toshiaki Ijuin's "Philosophy of the Meaningfulness of Life" (2021) as a recent achievement in the philosophy of "the meaning of life.
