Outline (in English)

The theme of Nagaoka Lab is Design of Creative Collaboration. Particularly the focus of the lab's activity is mainly upon creative collaboration in the field of Social Design, which includes the following four sub-themes: 1) Diversity in society, 2) Local community and areal management, 3) Sustainable life styles, 4) Participatory informal learning out of school-forged settings.
In order to deepen understanding of the meanings of creative collaboration in the social design activities, and to inquire into the future creative society, in which we will hopefully value diversity and individuality, without being fettered by old conventions or old values of the 20th century, the participants of this seminar are supposed to commit to various learning activities, such as doing workshops and fieldworks, making presentations, writing essays, and so on.
In addition to committing to those learning activities, the participants are expected to individually do their own social design projects in relation to some of the above four sub-themes, and to make a theoretical and/or practical contribution to designing the future creative society, by using the following key conceptual tools of “unlearning”, “third place”, “workshop”, “ethnography”, and “boundary crossing”.
