Outline (in English)

This course provides important topics concerning fundamentals of fluid dynamics. After completing this course, students should be able to:
1. apply the Bernoulli equation in combination with the continuity equation to the solutions for simple flow problems concerning measurements of flow rate.
2. explain the momentum and the angular momentum theorems in fluid motions and apply them to the solutions for various flow problems for rotating fluid-machineries such as pumps, compressors, and turbines.
3. explain conceptual differences between laminar and turbulent flows.
4. estimate pressure loss caused by friction in fully developed pipe flow by using the Darcy-Weisbach equation with friction factor.
