Outline (in English)

Fluid viscosity and compressibility are very important considerations in practical engineering applications of fluid mechanics. This course focuses on the effects of these characteristics on fluid motion. The basic purpose of this course is to understand:
1. derivation of Navier-Stokes equation for motion of incompressible viscous fluids.
2. derivation of Reynolds equation for incompressible turbulent flow and physical meaning of Reynolds stress.
3. thermodynamic fundamental properties and mass conservation, momentum, and energy equations in compressible flow.
4. basic equations for quasi one-dimensional compressible flow of an ideal gas.
