Outline (in English)
To help students enjoy speaking English. Students will improve their speaking skills and enhance their confidence in conversations, small group discussions and short talks.

We will develop and improve your oral communication skills. You will use worksheets and practise speaking English in pairs and small groups, participate in short, small group talks and small group presentations on general English topics.
到達目標Goal
At the end of the course, students should have improved their oral communication
skills and confidence when speaking English in pairs, small groups and in front of an audience.

You will work in groups, in pairs and with the class using English in an
enjoyable and communicative way. You will use worksheets and participate
in small group projects. Feedback on assignments will be provided on an ongoing in-class basis and via Google Classroom (students will be asked to submit work on Google Classroom).

Week#1:Welcome and Course Introduction.
Students are introduced to the course and get to know the teacher.
Week#2:Getting to know you
and topic selection.
Students ask each other and the teacher questions to review basic structures. Students choose topics.
Week#3:Topic 1: Worksheet; warm-up exercises, brainstorming.
Students brainstorm vocabulary, write questions, ask and answer and do worksheets.
Week#4:Topic 1: Short Talk and
Presentation skills; structuring a short talk.
Students learn how to structure a short talk and practice opening a short talk.
Week#5:Topic 1: Small Group
talks/Presentations on
topic 1.
Students make and listen to short talks on topic 1 by their peers and give feedback.
Week#6:Topic 2: Worksheet;
warm-up exercises,
brainstorming.
Students brainstorm vocabulary, prepare a quiz and do worksheets.
Week#7:Topic 2: Short Talk and
Presentation skills; using your voice.
Students practice using their voices focusing on rhythm and intonation and projection.
Week#8:Topic 2: Small Group
Talks/Presentations on
topic 2.
Students make and listen to short talks by their peers on topic 2 and give feedback.
Week#9:Topic 3: Worksheet;
warm-up exercises,
brainstorming.
Students brainstorm vocabulary, write questions, ask and answer and do worksheet.
Week#10:Topic 3: Short Talk and
Presentation skills; eye contact, gestures and body language.
Students practice making eye contact, gestures and focus on posture and body language.
Week#11:Topic 3: Small Group
Talks/Presentations on
topic 3.
Students make and listen to short talks by their peers on topic 3 and give feedback.
Week#12:Topic 4: Worksheet;
warm-up exercises,
brainstorming.
Students brainstorm vocabulary, write questions, ask and answer and do worksheet.
Week#13:Topic 4: Short Talk and
Presentation skills; Handling questions.
Students practice handling questions at the end of a short talk.
Week#14:Topic 4: Small Group
Talks/Presentations on
topic 4. Final Review activities.
Students make and listen to short talks by their peers on topic 4 and give feedback. Completion of final review activities.

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
Homework (20%) In-class participation including participation in pair work
activities, small group discussions, short talks and small group
presentations (50%). Participation in speaking review activities (30%).
Homework assignments, regular attendance and active participation in
class activities are required in order to pass the course.
