Outline and objectives

The aim of this course is to help students understand the written style of Japanese and enhance their writing skills. Students will learn basic rules for writing and useful expressions whilst practicing writing with various themes.

Goal

By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:
- write grammatically correct sentences,
- write stylistically adequate sentences,
- construct paragraphs logically.

Classes will be conducted mainly with textbook-based writing tasks and feedback by the lecturer. Students will have to submit a writing assignment after each class. Feedback on assignments will be done in the class or Google Classroom.

The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
Students need to preview the textbook before each class. After each class, they are required to rewrite their works based on feedback given in the class.
