本授業では、ビジネス英語をテーマにした教科書を使用し、わかりやすい英文を書く際に必要となる基礎的な文法を改めて学び直します。それに加え、秋学期にはいわゆる paragraph writing の基本に触れ、それに基づいた英作文の練習も行います。

本授業では、ビジネス英語をテーマにした教科書を使用し、わかりやすい英文を書く際に必要となる基礎的な文法を改めて学び直します。それに加え、秋学期にはいわゆる paragraph writing の基本に触れ、それに基づいた英作文の練習も行います。

1.ビジネス会話で頻出する語彙、表現パターンを身に付ける
2.英文の理解・発話において、品詞の違いと文の構造を意識できるようになる
3.基本的な文法を用いて、単純な英文1つ1つを素早く正確に書けるようになる
4.英語のパラグラフの考え方に基づいた短いエッセイで自分の意見を他人に伝えることができるようになる

教科書の Unit 1つを、1~2回の授業で消化していく予定です。
2回に分けて消化する場合、1回目ではその Unit で扱われている文法項目を解説し、その後にそれに対応した教科書の文法及び writing の演習問題を履修者に割り当てて回答してもらいます。また、その Unit で扱われていない文法も随時取り上げて説明し、同じくその演習問題に取り組んでもらいます。
2回目には、その Unit の残りの reading, listening の演習問題を、1回目に学んだ文法を参考にしながら、ペアワークなども交えつつ履修者に回答してもらい、それを通じてビジネス英語でよく用いられる表現方法を学んでいきます。
Unit が1つ終わったら、その次の授業回の冒頭にその Unit で学んだ内容を復習するための小テストを毎 Unit 行います。
また秋学期後半には、上記の授業内容と平行して paragraph writing の概要を紹介していきます。そして、それまで学んできた文法を生かしながら、paragraph writing の方法に則った英作文の練習を行い、最終的にはあるテーマについて自分の意見を説得力をもたせて主張する短めのエッセイを1本完成させることを目指します。

春学期の少なくとも前半はオンラインでの開講となります。オンライン化により授業計画にも多少の変更が生じますが、その旨は学習支援システムにてその都度お知らせしていきます。受講者の学習環境や理解度を考慮したうえで、計画は柔軟に変更していきます。
本授業は4月 21 日開始を予定しています。この日以降、授業に関わる情報や指示は学習支援システム上で配信していきますので、 学習支援システムをきちんと確認するようにしてください(【学生が準備すべき機器他】でも記した通り、学習支援システムからのお知らせを受信できるように、自分が普段使用するメールアドレスを支援システムに登録しておいてください)。

Students are expected to actively participate in class, prepare short presentations, complete writing assignments and pass the final test.
Your work will be evaluated as follows:
- Active participation in class (Zoom): 20%
- Writing assignments, homeworks and short presentations: 50%
- Final exam: 30%
