Outline (in English)

In today’s Japanese society, there are many problems, such as the aging population and declining birthrate, economic disparity, post-earthquake restoration, domestic violence, and lack of public nursery school places. Everyone feels that these problems cannot be solved by the work of national and local government organizations alone. Hoping that they can therefore be solved by efforts in the private sector, the work of social sector organizations, such as social welfare corporations, NPOs, and public-service corporations has been gaining attention. However, most of these organizations have difficulty raising the funds required in order to tackle these issues.

In general, “financing” refers to the funding of those who lack required funds by those with surplus funds.

In this course, we will see how “charitable funding” can be raised from a diverse range of groups in order to support social sector work in Japan.
