Outline (in English)

This course is designed to allow students to gain experience in constructing research projects and giving effective presentations in Japanese. Based on the contents of Freshman Seminar I in the spring semester, students will embark on setting up challenging research topics for the Japanese presentation and prepare for the presentation competition as a groupwork task. The course involves three presentation sessions, namely the in-class presentation session with classmates only, the joint presentation session in which representative groups from multiple Freshman Seminar II classes make presentations, and the final presentation competition where all Freshman Seminar II classes get together and some of the best presentations performed by students will be given.
The presentation topics are usually, but not necessarily, connected to issues in the fields of community development, social welfare, or clinical psychology. Students will be expected to support their discussions and suggestions with objective facts and figures obtained through questionnaires, interviews, meta-analysis of previous studies, and so forth, each of which will be introduced in accordance with the progress of the course.
