Outline (in English)

Humanity faces numerous challenges in today's globalized and digitalized capitalist economy. Cultural anthropology can provide an effective approach to these issues surrounding disasters, inequality, welfare, friction, and science and technology. This class demonstrates how the knowledge and perspectives of cultural anthropology contribute to public debate. Students acquire the anthropological way of thinking developed in our modern and post-modern era. Then by looking into public issues at the macro and micro levels, it aims to uncover the complexities of realities to provide alternative approaches to policy discourses and practice. Graded on the performance of fifteen one-paragraph essays in/after class (100%).
