Outline (in English)

Cultural anthropology is the study that analyzes any aspects of human lives as “culture.” The interest lies in learning about different lifestyles, values, norms, and realities that broaden our own perspective. Students take up topics from various areas of the world, including Japan, and understand the diverse and complex transformation of our everyday contemporary lives. Through cultural anthropology, students can gain fresh insights into habitual things they may have taken for granted. This course opens a new avenue for students to acquire anthropological ways of thinking. Graded on the performance of fifteen one-paragraph essays in/after class (100%).
