Outline (in English)
Following the expansion of knowledge on general linguistics, this course focus on cognitive linguistics. It aims to have the students understand the theories and concepts in cognitive linguistics and help the students reflect the knowledge to their further elaborated language use in daily communication.

春学期に学んだ一般言語学の知見をもとに、認知言語学における多様な理論や概念を理解し、日常の精緻なコミュニケーション行動に反映させる。
到達目標Goal
(1)認知言語学の基本的な理論や概念を説明できる。
(2)上記の言語研究の知見を応用して、ことばのとらえ方、用い方が柔軟になれる。
The course takers will become able to:
(1) explain the concepts and terminologies on language situations in the world, functions of a language, language aquisition process, its roles in human life, research on languages,
(2)flexibly understand and use their language based on linguistic knowlede.

講義式で説明するが詰め込みとならないよう、できるだけ多くの具体例を挙げて理解を促す。
予習による設問の解答やことばの例を挙げるためのペアワークやグループワークを取り入れ、アクティブに学習できるようする。
履修者数によっては学生のプレゼンテーションも取り入れる（授業内に口頭でフィードバックを行う）。
The instructor gives lectures, trying to explain complicated contents in a learner friendly way with plenty of examples. Questions and answers in pre-lecture stage, brainstorming and discussion sessions will be frequently included. Students are required to give one presentation or two during the semester and receive feedback from the instructor.

Students are required to read a designated reading chapter every week and are checked if they put highlights on the key words. They also submit the photo of their note after the class to the LMS.
