Outline (in English)
This course aims to have the students understand the system, usage, and acquisition of a language, i.e. general linguistics. With the knowledge, the students will be more consicious of elaborated use of their language in their daily communication.

一般言語学による言語の仕組み, 使用、習得についての理論や事例を理解し、より精緻なコミュニケーション行動に反映させる。
到達目標Goal
(1)ことばをめぐる世界の状況、ことばのはたらき、習得、役割、研究による知見などを理解し、基本用語や概念が説明できる。
(2)言語学研究の理論的枠組みを日常の言語に応用して考えることができる。
(3)言語研究の知見を応用して、ことばのとらえ方、用い方が柔軟になる。
The course takers will become able to:
(1) explain the concepts and terminologies on language situations in the world, functions of a language, language aquisition process, its roles in human life, research on languages,
(2) appy the concepts and knowledge on linguistics to their daily language use,
(3) flexibly understand and use their language based on linguistic knowlede.

講義式で説明するが詰め込みとならないよう、できるだけ多くの具体例を挙げて理解を促す。
予習による設問の解答やことばの例を挙げるためのブレーンストーミングやディスカッションを取り入れ、アクティブに学習できるようする。
学生のプレゼンテーションも取り入れる（授業内に口頭でフィードバックを行う）。
The instructor gives lectures, trying to explain complicated contents in a learner friendly way with plenty of examples. Questions and answers in pre-lecture stage, brainstorming and discussion sessions will be frequently included. Students are required to give one presentation or two during the semester and receive feedback from the instructor.

言語学の諸相に関する総括
授業時間外の学習（準備学習・復習・宿題等）Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
教材は毎回事前に熟読する。読んだ痕跡を残すよう指示するので（重要語ハイライト、質問、問の解答など）、確実に実行授業開始時確認を受ける（毎回計4時間）。授業後にノートの写真（または電子版ノート）を授業支援システムの課題に提出する。
Students are required to read a designated reading chapter every week and are checked if they put highlights on the key words. They also submit the photo of their note after the class to the LMS.
