Outline (in English)

[Course Outline]
Environmental issues are very important social problems. It is necessary for every people to understand the mechanism of these issues, but at present, the necessity has not been performed yet. In addition, the concept of SDGs(Sustainable Development Goals) has become a internationally common sense. This lecture aims to study fundamental understandings of SDGs concept and environmental issues including global environmental issues, local issues, radioactive species, and so on.
[Learning Objectives]
The main objective of this class is to get enough knowledge on the environmental problems, resources and energy problems, and the concept of SDGs as a internationally common goals. Another objective is to have a mind to have a interest on these social problems. Particularly, as the environmental problems are interdisciplinary issues, it is important for the students to be able to understand a problem from the viewpoint of not only natural sciences but also social sciences.
[Learning activities outside of classroom]
"The standard study time outside of classroom is not less than 4 hours." The information related to the environmental issues can be obtained from the mass-media news, internet websites, newspapers, and so on . It is important for students to gather those information by themselves.
[Grading Criteria/Policy]
An short exercise (mini-test) is conducted to ask the opinion of individual student in the last 10 minutes of the class every week. The answer of the mini-test is reflected to the regular point. In the case that the answer is "nothing" or a blank paper answer, no regular point is assigned. The total of the regular point is counted as 50% of the total score. another 50% is evaluated by the term-end examination in July.
