Outline (in English)

Course Outline:
Social science research illuminates patterns within daily human behavior. Yet how do social scientists extract data from the context of daily life to generate insights, hypotheses and generalizations ? This course introduces the basics of anthropological, qualitative research through class activities and actual data collection. In addition, it introduces the basic foundations of research in argumentation and develops the research literacy necessary for understanding and critiquing research in the media.

Learning Objectives:
The objective of this course is for students to develop an understanding of and skills in social science research.

Learning activities outside of the classroom:
Students will complete several projects outside of the classroom as well as complete all in-class assignments not finished in class as homework.

Grading Criteria:
In class activities and quizzes (50%), Projects (30%), Final Exam (20%)
