Outline (in English)

【Course outline】This lecture aims at understanding the natures of the various theories regarding aging through researched documents on the welfare for the aged and other related fields. Moreover, we will try re-structuring of research methods concerning the welfare system for the aged.
【Learning Objectives】The aim of this course is to analyze and examine research papers and practical cases on the welfare of the elderly, the culture of aging, and the sociology of gerontology, and to look at the ideal form of welfare research for the elderly.
【Learning activities outside the classroom】Students will search for literature on the elderly, not only in the field of elderly welfare, but also in the fields of anthropology and sociology, and organize the background and characteristics of problems from the perspective of research on aging and care, as well as from the perspective of real society. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 4 hours each.
【Grading Criteria/Policies】Students will be evaluated based on their participation in the lecture (70%) and assignment reports (30%).
