Outline (in English)

[Course outline]
Cognitive psychology is a field of psychological research that aims to clarify various phenomena related to the internal processing of the mind in perceiving the meaning of the environment and selecting appropriate actions, and is concerned with mental processes such as perception, attention, memory, learning, language, problem solving and reasoning/thinking.
In this course, students will be exposed to topics in cognitive psychology cognitive neuroscience, and neuropsychology related to these human cognitive processes and these disorders.
In particular, since this course is one of the courses offered in the Major in Clinical Psychology, it aims to help students understand how the findings of cognitive psychology relate to clinical psychology (especially the empirical basis for the theory of cognitive behavioral therapy).

[Learning Objectives]
You will gain an overview of cognitive psychology as a whole, and learn and understand the theories and methods of cognitive psychology research.
You will be able to connect and view cognitive psychology research with theories of abnormal psychology and psychopathology related to clinical psychology and practical activities such as assessment and intervention.

[Learning activities outside of classroom]
It is recommended that students do some preparatory study in advance, such as reviewing undergraduate studies related to the content of each class.
After the class, students are expected to review the content covered.
Students will be required to submit short reports related to the class content four times during the semester, so a reasonable amount of study outside of class time is necessary.
The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.

[Grading Criteria /Policies]
The evaluation will be based on the status and content of four short reports submitted during the semester (40%) and the in-class contribution (60%).
