Outline (in English)
The aim of this course is letting students acquire general chemistry through studying various materials and phenomena. To achieve the goal, students will learn chemical topics closely related to our daily life. It is expected that students can become to discuss properties and reactions of chemical species theoretically as well as to understand chemical background of cutting-edge topics in modern society. The final grade will be based on the term-end examinations, but the content of the previously submitted reports will be taken into consideration in the evaluation.

身近にある化学を理解し、役に立つ化学を身につけることをねらいとする。そのために、生活の中でよく出合う化学物質の性質を題材とする。化学物質の物性、構造、反応などを理論的に考察できるように、さらに、現代化学のトピックスについても、メカニズムを理解できるようにする。

通信学習のリポートに添削・講評でフィードバックする。 テキストの目次、索引などに載っているキーワードについて、まとめておくこと。また、テキストの本文中で、使用頻度の高い専門用語についても、説明できるようにしておくと良い。
