Outline (in English)
This course deals with the role of law in society, the basic concepts and principles of law, by focusing on the Constitution of Japan. We also introduce important provisions and major judicial precedents to help students to develop a legal mind during the course of their studies.
The course content will rely on the textbook, mainly 2 chapters as follows:
Chapter1. Fundamental human rights and law
Chapter6. Nation and law

日本国憲法を中心に、法学の基本概念と原則を判例なども交えて学び、自分で説明できるようになることを目的とする。

【科目の概要】Method(s)
法は、社会の中で、どのような役割を果たしているか。また、どのような概念や原則に基づいて法は成り立っているか。これらの問いを、日本国憲法の理解を通じて考えると同時に、条文や判例を素材に、法的な思考方法を身につけられるようにする。取り上げるテーマは、指定のテキスト『判例法学』の以下の章の中から適宜選ぶことにする。
第1章「基本的人権と法」
第6章「国家と法」

単位修得試験による。

指定市販本 西村健一郎・西井正弘・初宿正典『判例法学』（第5版）有斐閣、2012 年、¥ 2,600+税
【学習指導、注意点等】Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)
通信学習のリポートに添削・講評でフィードバックする。・基本的に、指定テキスト『判例法学』に沿って、関係する条文と判例と解説を熟読しておくことが大切となる。
・指定テキスト『判例法学』のすべてを扱うのではないので注意すること。具体的には、上記の「科目の概要」を参照。『判例法学』は第5 版を用いる。
