Outline (in English)

Like Disney, Coca-Cola and Unilever, it is necessary for students to understand sustainability that is compatible with ESG and SDGs and that can respond to climate changes such as global warming. Therefore, in this course, you will learn basic knowledge of sustainable environmental management, including water purification technology, recycling and environmental laws. 
This course is designed to help students learn and understand the environmental management and the basic methods on water pollution control. You will also learn the various environmental issues on lakes, streams, ocean and soil/groundwater. In addition to wastewater treatment techniques, this course deals with the environmental laws and regulations as well as pollution incidents.
[Learning objectives] You can learn practical environmental knowledge required for corporate environmental management, environmental administration, and various international activities. The content of the class should be easy to understand so that liberal arts students can learn with interest. By the end of the course students will learn the principal skills to clean up the wastewater chemically and biologically.
By this course, students taking this course are expected to understand a number of technical terms and environmental concepts including BOD/COD and Circular Economy, that are used by the environmental managers.
[Learning activities outside of classroom] Lecture/Exercise: Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content. Further, students are expected to read textbooks and/or relevant articles provided by Hoppii.
[Grading Criteria/Policies]
Final grade will be calculated based on the followings.
Term-end examination:70%, Short reports: 30%.
