Course outline
Modern society uses natural resources for a variety of socioeconomic activities. Excessive use of natural resources leads to environmental destruction and unsustainable development. This course aims to discuss the issues of managing natural resources, their management policies and methods, and to learn the scientific basis for mechanisms and strategies to deal with environmental issues.
Learning Objectives
Students will learn about basic resources such as water, soil, forests, and fisheries, starting with the historical background of their use and conservation, and their sustainable use and management. This will enable students to
- explain the problems of natural resources.
- explain the background and necessity of utilizing and conserving natural resources. and
- explain policies and management methods for sustainable use and conservation of natural resources.
Learning activities outside of the classroom

現代社会は、自然資源を活用してさまざまな社会経済活動をしています。自然資源の不適切な利用は環境破壊を引き起こし持続不可能な開発へとつながります。自然資源が抱える問題、その管理政策や手法について論じ、環境問題の発生メカニズムと対処法に関する科学の基礎を習得することを目指します。
到達目標Goal
水、土壌、森林、水産などさまざまな資源について、利用と保全の歴史的な経緯から始まり、その性質、持続的な利用と管理についての基礎知識を習得します。これにより
・自然資源の問題について説明できるようになります。
・自然資源の利活用の意義について説明できるようになります。
・自然資源の持続的な利用と保全のための政策や管理方法について説明できるようになります。
