Outline (in English)

(Course Outline) This class will introduce the theories of environmental sociology, reviewing the history of environmental problems and policies in Japan. This class will focus on the ways that residents and citizens are engaged in the process of environmental problems, which is one of the most important topics in environmental sociology. Students will learn the characteristics of environmental problems and the actions to solve them based on the theories of environmental sociology.
(Learning Objectives) Being able to explain the history of environmental problems and policies in Japan. Being able to point out the characteristics of environmental problems based on the theories of environmental sociology. Being able to propose actions for solving the problems.
(Learning Activities Outside of Classroom) Students should pay attention to news about environmental problems and policies and collect information daily. Students should review the previous class based on the resumes and read references. The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
(Grading Criteria/Policy) Regular Work (30%) + Final Examination (70%). Regular work will be submitting reaction papers or assignments.
