Outline (in English)

【Course outline】
This course contains lecture / practice of qualitative research, and literacy of quantitative research, but not includes practice of quantitative research. It enable students to apply the qualitative research methodologies such as life-story interview and document analysis and to use quantitative data for their graduation dissertations in proper manners.

【Learning Objectives】
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
1) develop their literacy skills to understand the quantitative data.
2) practice the qualitative research (life-story interview and/or document analysis).
3) acquire the academic skills to develop a research question, an appropriate research method and write a short paper in academic manner.

【Learning activities outside of classroom】
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to read the assigned book chapter, to write a draft paper or to have completed the required assignments and so on.

【Grading Criteria /Policy】
Your overall grade in the class will be decided based on the following
one research paper: 60%, short assignment reports: 40%
