Outline (in English)

【Outline】
Chinese Application I~IV are the Chinese courses for intermediate learners who have completed the SA (Study Abroad) program. The aim of Chinese Application I~IV is to maintain and improve the Chinese communication skills which are acquired in the SA program. To achieve this aim, it is important to develop the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. In this course, students will mainly improve their writing skills. We use the textbook which shows various Japanese-Chinese translation rules and do a lot of composition exercises.
【Goal】
The goals of this course are as follows:
(1) To understand the Chinese grammar through reading explanations shown in the textbook.
(2) To be able to appropriately compose complicated Chinese sentences through exercises such as Japanese-Chinese translation, word order, etc.
【Work to be done outside of class (preparation, etc.)】
・After every class, students are required to review the textbook.
・Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
【Grading criteria】
・Grading will be decided based on in-class contribution (50%) and term-end test (50%).
