Governments and central banks conduct macroeconomic policies such as fiscal policy and monetary policy, but for what purpose and on what basis do they implement such policies? This course considers these questions from a macroeconomic perspective using IS-LM model. The course also examines how various macroeconomic statistics such as GDP statistics, price indexes (consumer price indexes and GDP deflators), and unemployment rates are compiled as well as related measurement issues, and moreover, investigates employment issues in recent years.
