Outline (in English)

In this lecture, you will learn basic techniques for processing images and sounds, which are representative types of digital media. Also, we aim to be able to exercise various processes by ourselves. Most of these methods are based on mathematics. As an introduction, to getting used to programming using mathematical algorithms, this lecture is not too deeply into mathematical details, how individual methods relate to features of sound and images, and so on, focusing on practical exercises. Understanding these methods is useful for taking courses such as pattern recognition and machine learning, digital signal processing, image processing, and speech processing.

Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend eight hours.

Final grade will be calculated according to the following process final project (50%), term-end examination (50%), and in-class contribution.
