Outline (in English)

【Outline】The history of ceramics in East Asia focuses on the history of Chinese ceramics.
【Purpose and Significance】 The history of ceramics in East Asia has a long history. The production of ceramics is greatly influenced by the natural geographical environment of each region and kiln, including the extraction of clay, which is the raw material for ceramics. This is why each region and kiln has developed its own unique ceramic culture. On the other hand, as people interacted more closely with each other across countries and regions, the shapes, designs, and styles of ceramics also changed and new ceramic cultures emerged as a result of these interactions. In this lecture, we will study the history of ceramics in East Asia with the keywords "people" and "exchange" based on the results of archaeological, art historical, and historical studies.
