Outline (in English)

This course deals with the basic concepts and principles of investigation such as early modern Japanese archives. It also enhances the development of student's skill in decipherment of cursive-style writing.
The goals of this course are to understand more deeply about the preservation, investigation, and management of documents from the Edo period.
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to
spend four hours to understand the course content.
Final grade will be calculated according to the following process
report (50%) and in-class contribution(50%).
