Outline (in English)

<Course outline> Acquire an overview of the history of literary criticism in the Japanese postwar literature through the writings of each critic and the stream of criticism.
<Learning Objectives> The first goal is to understand the role of criticism in postwar literature, and the second is to obtain a perspective that relativizes the history of postwar literature in Japan. Ideally, through summarizing, analyzing, and imitating the writings of literary critics, I would like to establish a critical eye within myself.
<Learning activities outside of classroom> Please come to class with a basic knowledge of the history of Japanese postwar literature. It is also recommended that you read the representative works of the writers and critics to be discussed in the class before coming to class. All students are expected to read and participate in the texts to be presented, so that lively discussions can take place. The standard preparation and review time for this class is two hours each.
<Grading Criteria/Policy> Grades will be based on an overall evaluation of 40% of normal points and 60% of presentations and reports.In terms of the normal score, I will judge whether the student attends class properly, actively engages in the class content, and studies outside of class.In the presentation, we will judge whether you have a clear understanding of the critique you are presenting, whether your presentation style and resume are appropriate, and whether you have attempted to go beyond mere explanation to analysis and consideration. In addition, we will judge whether or not you are actively working on the report.
