Outline (in English)

[Course outline]
The objective of this class is to improve the various abilities necessary for graduate students of Doctoral Course to be able to carry out research. In order to achieve the middle-term goals of each fiscal year established at the beginning of the spring semester, students set small goals for the fall semester and acquire the PDCA cycle on research activities. In order to clarify the relationship between the previous research and the student's own research, students review the preceding research.
[Learning Objectives]
By the end of the course, students should be able to do the following:
a.Students can accurately analyze their own research abilities.
b.Students can reasonably formulate overall goals for the doctoral program, mid-term goals for each year, and small goals for each semester.
c.Students can devise concrete action plans and achievement indicators based on the contents of a and b above.
d.Students actually act based on the contents of a, b, and c above.
e.Students can appropriately position their research in the previous research based on the contents of a, b, c, and d above.
f.Students can properly self-evaluate their achievement in semester units based on the contents of a, b, c, d, and e above.
g.Students can utilize the self-evaluation of f above for the next goal setting.

The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
[Grading Criteria /Policy]
The overall grade of the class is determined based on the following.
In-class contribution 40%, review presentation and tasks set by each student 30%, presentation about goal setting 20%, presentation about self-evaluation 10%.
