Outline (in English)
（Course outline） In this course, students will read English-language academic books on "Japanese" studies and learn how to disseminate academic research on Japan to the international community.
（Learning Objectives）1. The aim of this course is to help students understand the importance of disseminating "Japan" studies internationally by reading English literature on Japan.
2. Students will learn how to explain various geographical events in Japan, especially "Tokyo", in English, or how to translate academic terms into Japanese, by reading English texts and learning their vocabulary.
3. Students will also learn how to translate Japanese texts into English, reading Japanese references in both directions.
（Learning activities outside of classroom） Your study times will be 4 hours for a class.
（Grading Criteria /Policy） Grading will be decided based on lab reports(50%), and the quality of the students experimental performance in the lab (50%).

本授業では，「日本」研究の英文学術書を読み，日本をフィールドとした学術研究の国際的発信の方法を学びます。
到達目標Goal
１．日本を対象とした英語文献を読むことにより，「日本」研究を国際的に発信する重要性を理解することを目標とします。
２．日本、特に「東京」の様々な地理的事象をどのように英語で説明するのか、あるいは学術用語をどのように日本語に翻訳するのか、英文を読みながら、その語彙を学習します。
３．また、日本語で書かれた文章をどのように英語に翻訳するのか、日本語の参考文献も読みながら、双方向で学習します。

授業は、テキストの各章の訳を受講生で分担し、訳の担当者が翻訳し、それについて解説を行うことによって進めていきます。本授業は、発表・翻訳→解説のやりとりのため、より学習効果的な方法として、すべてオンライン授業（Zoom＋オンデマンド）で行います。

東京研究とは、日本研究とは、国際的にどのような意義があるのか、議論する。
本授業のまとめ

各章に関わる参考文献等は、各自読んで、事前に基礎的知識を学んでくることを前提とします。その上で担当者の翻訳内容の確認、理解に努めましょう。

十分な準備が前提となります。発表時だけの準備ではなく、参加時の準備も評価の大きな対象となります。
