Outline (in English)
<Course outline> Obtain the necessary skills to write a doctoral thesis through reading of Japanese modern literature, using specialized knowledges.
<Learning Objectives> Students will make a presentation on a theme, author, or work of their choice, based on their original awareness of the issues based on previous research results, which could be part of their doctoral dissertation, and critically examine it to write their dissertation.
<Learning activities outside of classroom> The standard preparation and review time for this class is 2 hours each.
Students will conduct research on a theme, author, or work of their own choosing that will enable them to present their work. Students will also deepen their understanding of other students' themes, authors, and works, and acquire specialized knowledge as literary researchers.
<Grading Criteria/Policy> Grades will be based on an overall evaluation of 40% of normal points and 60% of presentations.

授業の概要と目的（何を学ぶか）Outline and objectives
日本の近代以降の文学作品について、専門的な知見を駆使して精読を行い、博士論文を書くために必要となる能力を身につけます。
到達目標Goal
受講者が選択したテーマ、作家、作品について、先行する研究成果を踏まえてオリジナリティのある問題意識から、博士論文の一部となりうる内容について発表し、批判的検討を加えて論文執筆に結びつけます。

本授業の準備学習・復習時間は、各2時間を標準とします。
受講者は、自らが選択したテーマ、作家、作品について、発表が可能となるような研究を行います。また他の受講者のテーマ、作家、作品についても理解を深めることで、文学研究者としての専門的な知見を身につけます。

成績評価の方法と基準Grading criteria
成績は平常点4割、発表6割で総合的に評価します。

＜専門領域＞日本近・現代文学、文芸評論
＜研究テーマ＞
現在の主な関心は、日本の近代文学の特質を明らかにすること、そこから現代文学の条件を考えること、同時に詩・物語・批評といった言葉の機能から文学について論じる方法を探ることである。具体的には戦後文学史の検証、北村透谷・小林秀雄についての研究、新しい近代文学史の切り口を準備している。
