Outline (in English)

Outline: Reading various literatures on Japan, summarizing the contents, and summarizing your own opinion on it in small thesis, develop the basic abilities required for Japanese studies.
 
Goal: By the end of the course, students should be able to do the followings:
- To read articles on Japanese language, literature, history, culture, and society, and to understand their contents, viewpoints, and significance
- To improve reading and writing skills by summarizing the contents of literature
- To compose your own opinions and write sentences suitable for a thesis.
- To concretize a research plan for writing a master's thesis and express the results in writing. 
 
Learning activities outside of classroom: Students are expected to spend about four hours before and after each class period on assignments and independent study.
 
Grading Criteria / Policies: In accordance with the above Goals, the following two will be scored.
- Assignments 60.
- Format and clarity of research plan 40.
