Outline (in English)

The Omoro Soshi is the first written compilation of sacred songs and poems collected by Ryukyu kingdom. The Ryukyuan folklores in the Irousetsuden and the Okinawan cultural background may have affected the development of its oral traditions. In this course, you will learn the Ryukuan sacred songs and literature are related to the cultures of surrounding areas and developed their own unique styles. The members of this course will also be required to make a presentation to deepen their understandings.The goal is to have a deep understanding of Ryukyuan literature. For learning outside of class hours, read textbooks and references carefully. The method and criteria for grade evaluation are to attend at least 6 times and take a test.The test is 70% and the normal score is 30%.
