This course has two major objectives.
One of them is to help students acquire the level of English reading skills and vocabulary required of well-educated persons on international settings.
The other objective is to help students broaden their perspectives as members of international community through dealing with English materials that expose them to contemporary global issues.

Before each class meeting, students will be expected to do one or two of the following tasks.
1. carefully read assigned part of the materials.
2. Summarize a short audio-visual material.
3. A research on relevant topics.

After each class meeting, students will be expected to read or watch materials again and prepare for a review test which will be frequently conducted. You will sometimes be requested to write your own ideas in English based on materials introduced in the course.
Your required study time outside of classroom is at least one hour for each class.

Final grading will be decided based on your preparation for class (20%), contribution to class through presenting researches and opinions (20%), and review tests(60%).
