Outline (in English)

The course is designed to improve students' reading abilities through the development of basic vocabulary, grammar and sentence structure analysis skills. Students will enhance their reading competence through the integrated curriculum of listening, reading, speaking and writing as well as through group activities and various tasks.
By the end of the course, students will be able to: 1) increase their reading speed and comprehension of academic articles, 2) improve their reading fluency skills through extensive reading, 3) develop their vocabulary and grammatical knowledge, and 4) develop abilities as critical thinkers, readers and writers.
Before/after each class meeting, students will be expected to spend four hours to understand the course content.
Final grade will be decided based on class participation (10%), writing assignments (30%), midterm and final exams (60%).
